I wish we’d had our pictures taken in Spring!!
Every year I hear the same thing “I wish I had booked a shoot in the Spring”. This year I wanted to give people a decent chance to get a shoot booked in the few weeks of our delicious Spring. The light is perfect, the woods are getting green and the spring flowers are starting to bloom.

It’s refreshing being a photographer in Eastbourne at this time of year. Wandering around Eastbourne today, Spring is in the air and theres a big yellow thing in the sky! I think it’s the sun?
Winter is a great time to shoot, having to wrap up in scarves and hats, wellies and boots, shooting children with rosy cheeks and stamping away cold from chilly feet and capturing that feeling in family portraits is a real treat. But, although wellies may still be required, the Spring brings its own treats.
The warmth in the air means we won’t need hot chocolate after - wait, thats a bad thing, I love hot chocolate - I’m still having one - but we can definitely have an ice cream - and I know where to get the best ones!
There’s a bit of anxiety in the air, but all my shoots take place outdoors. There is a hugely reduced risk having family portraits outdoors, versus visiting a studio - who was in the studio before you? Had they self isolated? Had they washed their hands? I’m being tongue firmly in cheek with this, I’m sure Eastbourne’s Photography community is taking the risk of coronavirus very seriously, but it has to said, a shoot on the beach, local park or in the woods is a lot less risky than going to a studio that could have had poorly people (who may not have known they carry the coronavirus) in it.
So where will you go on your family location photoshoot this Spring? Does your family like the beach? Do you have a favourite woodland you love, with the best tree for climbing? Do you want to explore the foot of the cliffs at Holywell? Have you even been to Holywell? For many of my clients, a shoot at Holywell is their first ever visit. Does this sound like an advert for Holywell?
Maybe this is for an up to date shoot of your family? Have you been photographed by me before? If so, I cannot wait to catch up with you all. The family featured in this blog are regular visitors. I have photographed this young boy since he was a tiny baby. I love to see your children grow. It’s a real privilege.
Maybe this is your first time? Want to know what happens..?
Book a shoot - choose a package
Choose a date for your shoot - I shoot weekends, after school pretty much anytime. Unless it’s dark. Taking photos in the dark is a silly idea.
Attend your ordering session. You’ll come to my office. You’ll see your images on a large screen and be shown all the other products and I’ll explain how best to display your images in your home. There’s coffee and tea, soft drinks and a chance to spend some money. But no cake.
What else can I say? *I’m gonna mention coronavirus..
I’m not entirely sure there’s anything else? But if you have questions, and I haven’t persuaded you to buy your voucher, please WhatsApp me, ask me a question, and i’ll answer it.
Please rest assured, I wash my hands, a lot. I usually shoot from about 4-5 meters away - sometimes even further - there is a barely a risk at all of having your photographs taken by me. It’s a wonderful time of year to have a shoot, and it’s also a great thing that we are allowed to do, under current advice, it’s outdoors, in the fresh air, away from any Coronavirus risk.
I look forward to photographing you soon.
